Derek Jeter, Misty Copeland, and Wayne Gretzky left no doubt in the athletic world as to their talents. And now, the superstar athletes are taking those talents to the world of fashion with a new athletic clothing line.

The trio announced Greatness Wins, a premium sportswear brand made by athletes, for athletes, earlier this week. According to a press release shared by Input magazine, the brand came to fruition when UNTUCKit founder Chris Riccobono expressed a need for athletic attire that fit and felt better.

The three athletic partners are employing their firsthand experience with athletic wear to help propel and build the line. Jeter, whose prowess in baseball is well-documented, is working closely with Riccobono on the business side of things, while Copeland — who is a ballet dancer — is leading the brand’s women’s line. You might think that Gretzky would put his efforts into hockey gear, but the Great One’s focus will instead by on the golf division.

Currently, the brand’s offerings include men’s and golf attire, with the women’s line to follow next year. Styles encompass loose and athletic shorts, T-shirts, polos, tanks, and long sleeves in a range of color options featuring Greatness Wins logos. Quarter-zip pullovers and tie-string pants are also available, and three crewneck socks round out the capsule.

According to the brand, its vision is to “create the next great athletic brand” of clothing that can withstand the lifestyle of an athlete. The focus has been on apparel that doesn’t rip, pill, or lose shape rather than on the athleisure trends of today, the company adds.

One trend that the brand does embrace is sustainability. According to the Input press release, 98% of the base materials are Bluesign or Oeko-Tex certified, and 80% of the collection’s shorts are made using recycled fibers like polyester.
