International Olympic Committee Debuts Apparel Collection
Even though we still have to wait one more year for the Summer Olympics, we can at least satisfy our need for the world athletic games with a new apparel collection.
A few short days ago, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) launched its debut Olympic Collection apparel. The collection features hoodies, sweatshirts, and T-shirts. But perhaps the most exciting feature is the designs are done around the famous Olympic rings. According to IOC News, this is the first time this has been done.
The origin of the Olympic rings design dates back to 1913 when it was released to symbolize unity across continents and between athletes.
While the iconic rings may be the center of the apparel designs, items also pay homage to the spirit of the Olympic Games. Quotes such as “Records are made to be broken” and “Faster, Higher, Stronger – Together” are also incorporated.
Fans can currently shop the line in a range of colorways, which are representative of the distinct color palette of the Olympic brand, at shop.olympics.com. The IOC News adds that fans can also currently explore the full Olympic Collection apparel range and wider Olympic collections, including Paris 2024 and the Olympic Heritage collection. The Olympic Collection apparel falls under the IOC’s global licensing program, which was developed as part of the Olympic Agenda 2020 recommendations to promote the Olympic brand all year round.
Brands across the board are increasingly turning toward apparel and exclusive merch drops to promote their brands and messaging. This collection of Olympic gear is just the latest to make the headlines.
