After months of teasing a location in New York, Los Angeles Apparel has officially opened its doors on the East Coast. The company announced on its Instagram page that the SoHo flagship store is now open for business Monday-Thursday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.

According to an article from Vernon Proper, the store — located at 480 Broadway — occupies more than 20,000 square feet and has been previously described by the company as a “super store.” This is just the second physical store for Dov Charney‘s brand, which produces most of its inventory at its South Central factory in California. Charney has long found himself at the center of headlines, from his history launching American Apparel to being ousted from that board in 2014. In 2022, Charney declared personal bankruptcy, and most recently again found his way into mainstream conversation via the Netflix documentary on American Apparel.

The new store will serve as a test whether the brand can resonate with New Yorkers the same way it does in L.A. , the Vernon Proper article shares.
