PRINTING United Expo, set to take place Oct. 22-24, 2025 in Orlando, Florida, is the place where the industry gathers every year to explore new technologies, top trends, and connect with the latest and greatest advancements.

Mehmet Ugur, Manager at Georgia-based Tidal Colors, has attended three of the past four Expos, only missing last year due to an unplanned emergency. Mehmet is an active member of the apparel decorating community, having also previously attended Apparel Decoration Summit where he spoke about his experience with direct-to-film (DTF) printing.

Why does he return to the Expo time and again? Check it out below.

Apparelist: Why are you attending the 2025 PRINTING United Expo?
MU:
PRINTING United has been instrumental in helping me discover new decoration technologies, software, and automation solutions. Just as important, it’s an unmatched networking opportunity — connecting with new people often sparks fresh ideas and collaborations. For example, I discovered DTF printing in late 2019, when it was still relatively unknown, and that early adoption proved to be a great investment. I’m excited to see what global manufacturers are pursuing next.

Apparelist: What technology or trend are you most looking forward to learning more about this year?

MU: I’m particularly interested in advancing DTF automation. We’ve already invested in some automation projects in-house, but I’m eager to see if fully automated heat presses —capable of applying, peeling, reapplying, and folding garments with laser-precise, pre-cut transfers — are ready for market. I’ll also be looking at automation software and new application tools that can improve speed and efficiency.

Apparelist: Do you have any advice you can share with those who may be unsure about attending?

MU: This is the largest printing show in the U.S., and it attracts the best suppliers in the world. If you want to stay competitive, you can’t afford to miss what’s being introduced. Technology changes rapidly, and even if you think your shop is running perfectly, there’s always room for improvement.

Beyond the technology and products, the real value is in the connections you make. Don’t be shy — start conversations, exchange contact information, and build relationships. The printing industry thrives on collaboration, and meeting the right people can open doors to opportunities you didn’t even know existed.
