Apparel has the power to uplift and bring people together, whether it’s with a motivational message, strong brand identity, or graphic. Lisa Crossley, CEO and founder of GIRLSTRONG, believes this more than ever, calling her offerings “empowerment apparel.”

The fitness and accessory line focuses on fashion and functionality while spreading positivity and empowering women. So what is empowerment apparel? For GIRLSTRONG, it’s apparel with taglines like:

  • “The Future is Female”
  • “Girl Boss”
  • “Who Runs the World?”
  • “GIRLSTRONG”

“When we feel good as women, the world benefits,” Crossley says. “Fashion can empower women in many ways, including as a tool for activism, a way to express identity, and a way to feel confident. Every woman deserves to feel empowered, strong, and confident in every facet of life.”

GIRLSTRONG Gives Back

Crossley’s passion for empowerment also goes beyond apparel, supporting female-centric nonprofits and hosting events where women can connect.

Most recently, GIRLSTRONG has partnered with Girls on the Run Georgia, a nonprofit organization that develops essential emotional, social, and physical skills in girls, helping them navigate life experiences. It was founded in 2000 with 30 participants and has since grown to 45,000 across Greater Atlanta and North Georgia.

On Oct. 15, 2024, from 1-3 p.m. ET, Crossley invites the community to Healthy Happy Hour. The event, held at Stellar Bodies Buckhead Court (3872 Roswell Road, Ste B2, Atlanta), will feature a reception with light bites and drinks. Event tickets are $35, which includes a GIRLSTRONG T-shirt. Net proceeds will benefit Girls on the Run Georgia.

“Girls on the Run successfully provides programming that inspires thousands of local girls to recognize their inner strength, and increases their level of physical activity and confidence,” says Lea Rolfes, executive director, Girls on the Run Georgia. “Like our organization, GIRLSTRONG strives to unlock the power and potential in girls of all ages. We are looking forward to celebrating health and well-being at the Stellar Bodies event.”

Whitney Reynolds, the executive producer and host of the PBS talk show The Whitney Reynolds Show, is on the GIRLSTRONG Advisory Board and will be a featured guest at the Oct. 15th event.

“Activewear is Nike and Reebok. GIRLSTRONG is about empowerment – and the future is female,” Reynolds says.

The brand’s apparel offerings include women’s activewear, mugs, hats, and other accessories, plus kid’s clothes.
