Gildan Donates $250K to World Vision Honduras, Supporting Childhood Education and Development
Gildan continues its commitment to World Vision Honduras with a $250,000 donation to support the implementation of the Childhood Education and Transformation (ETN) program.
In Gildan’s and World Vision Honduras’ 11-year partnership, the pair have shared a dedication to sustainable development, enhancing children’s socioemotional and socioenvironmental skills, and promoting environmental responsibility in the Villanueva, Choloma, and Quimistán communities. The ETN program has become known for educational excellence and environmental advocacy, leaving an impact on the regions it serves, Gildan says in a press release.
“We are proud of our partnership with World Vision,” says Claudia Sandoval, vice president of global social compliance and environmental affairs, Gildan. “The recent completion of Phase III of the program benefited over 204,000 children by teaching them valuable skills across various subject areas. We also strengthened 68 educational networks fostering green and safe school environments, and empowered over 3,000 educators with skills in ICT, environmental stewardship, and socioemotional growth.”
Gildan’s donation will support the activation of Phase IV — training over 300 educators in socioemotional well-being and climate change mitigation. Phase IV is expected to impact 10,000 children in the region and indirectly reach over 300,000 children across 400 schools. Phase IV will also focus on environmental protection and holistic child development, in addition to gradually certifying schools as “Green and Safe Schools,” strengthening environmental education. Gildan and World Vision Honduras will oversee the certification process within the program.
With over $700,000 donated to World Vision Honduras and over 350,000 children impacted to date, the partnership demonstrates the power of collective action. Through its continued collaboration with World Vision Honduras, Gildan aims to create a “brighter and more sustainable future for all.”
While Gildan’s partnership with World Vision Honduras spans years, it also got involved with World Vision Bangladesh in July 2022, investing $52,000 into the community to support the economic empowerment of women.
