Fruit of the Loom Donates Over 150,000 Apparel Items to Support Humanitarian Efforts
It’s that time of year when households, companies, and large organizations flex their charitable giving muscles — it’s the holiday season after all! One of the first companies to kick off the good deeds in the apparel world is Fruit of the Loom Inc.
Good360, an organization on a mission to close the need gap through product philanthropy and purposeful giving, alongside corporate partner Fruit of the Loom Inc. has donated nearly 154,000 items to those in need. This includes a recent donation of 40,000 goods for Ethiopia since Fruit of the Loom’s partnership with Good360 began in June 2022. The donation is comprised of a variety of Fruit of the Loom’s items, including fleece outerwear, underwear, and athleticwear for men, women, and children.
A Global Impact
In the last 16 months, the collaboration between the pair has supported global disaster and humanitarian relief efforts in Ukraine, Niger, and South Sudan. Stateside, Fruit of the Loom product was distributed in the Midwest in response to tornado activity. Fruit of the Loom Inc. and Good360 have impacted more than 50,000 lives through their partnership.
“We are proud to team up with Good360 to deliver these much-needed items to people in their time of need,” said JacLyn Ashby, who leads Fruit’s global giving program called Threads of Change, in a press statement. “Through our Threads of Change donations and our partners at Good360, we can continue to make a difference in the lives of people around the world.”
Good360 is working with USA for UNHCR to distribute the products in Ethiopia. Since Good360’s partnership with USA for UNHCR began in May 2020, the program has impacted nearly 3.5 million lives, processed donations from more than two dozen retailers, and shipped 12 million items to 10 countries in Africa and Eastern Europe.
“Good360 is thankful for corporate donors like Fruit of the Loom for their dedication to improving the lives of refugees, and for our partnership with USA for UNHCR for expanding our global impact and distributing these items to people in critical need,” added Romaine Seguin, CEO of Good360, in a press release. “We are proud to be in a position to convene partners from both the private and nonprofit sectors in order to help close the need gap for millions of individuals each year.”
Celebrating its 40th year, Good360 partners with socially responsible companies to source highly needed donated goods and distribute them through its network of more than 100,000 vetted nonprofits. It has distributed over $15 billion in donated goods thanks to corporate donors like Amazon, American Eagle Outfitters, Gap Inc., Levi Strauss & Company, and more.
