There are so many opportunities to do some good in the world. All around the decorated apparel community, manufacturers, suppliers, and decorators are digging in to help local nonprofits, launch national initiatives, and more. Stoked on Printing is one decorator out sharing some love by donating extra apparel items.

The Las Vegas-based company recently announced that it had completed a donation for The Shade Tree, a nonprofit that not only provides shelter for abused and homeless women and women with children in crisis, but also offers services promoting stability, dignity, and self-reliance. According to Kevin Oakley, chief revenue officer at Stoked in Printing, this isn’t the only nonprofit the shop works with.

“We work with multiple nonprofits around town when it comes to leftover products,” Oakley explains. “And what we had extra this time around fit perfectly with a new program [The] Shade Tree was introducing, which is essentially helping women get started in the medical field.”

The extra apparel items that Oakley and team were able to donate were scrubs. “We had a lot of extra scrub sets that were either returned or the customer canceled the order,” he says. “This really worked out where we couldn’t necessarily resale them, but our customers were okay with these being donated.”

It’s a neat initiative that seems to benefit all parties involved, one that Stoked on Printing has found great success with. “We do a twice-a-year clean out of all the odds and ends that get leftover from orders where we will sell a bag for $5 and invite anyone in the community to fill up as much stuff as possible into the bags,” Oakley says. “We then have donated that money as well as given all the leftovers to a great charity in town called the Nevada Partnership for Homeless Youth.”

When it comes to giving back to the community, Oakley states that the Stoked on Printing team prioritizes it. “It’s really important to be present in your community and give back whenever possible,” he continues. “With our industry, we work with a product that is so desperately needed by so many, so if there is an opportunity to maybe not make as much as reselling those leftovers, but make an impact on someone’s life, we will take the latter!”
