Gildan Participates in Fashion Revolution Week, Highlights Supply Chain Transparency
For a sixth consecutive year, Gildan participates in Fashion Revolution’s annual global movement, Fashion Revolution Week. The event is happening April 22-29. As part of this year’s event, Gildan is campaigning to increase supply chain transparency in which it’s spotlighting employees in its yarn-spinning, textile and dyeing operations, as well as those who sew and distribute products.
Fashion Revolution, a global nonprofit that works for greater transparency in apparel supply chains, hosts the Fashion Revolution Week annually, with this year marking 10 years since the Rana Plaza tragedy. The initiative has called upon citizens to demand greater transparency from brands by asking #WhoMadeMyClothes? This year, Fashion Revolution asks a second question: #WhoMadeMyFabric?, according to a press release from Gildan.
Gildan’s “Who Made My Clothes?” campaign includes content released on the supplier’s social media channels. In addition to spotlighting these employees, Gildan’s transparency focus also includes spotlighting its mills and ESG strategy. The manufacturer owns and operates its own facilities, giving it the ability to monitor, optimize, and report on the different aspects of its supply chain. In 2022, the company also launched its Next-Generation ESG strategy.
