Sublimation Industry Pros Launch Education Platform for Those Looking to Master the Craft
During this year’s Sublimation Summit, Founder Cheryl Kuchek and Condé Systems President David Gross, soft-launched a new education venture called Sublimation University.
The platform has two key components to it:
- Beginner’s course: for those looking to learn the ins and outs of the decoration process
- Advanced course: for experienced sublimation professionals
For those wanting to know more, Apparelist caught up with the co-founding pair to get the details.
First and foremost, Gross says it’s their goal and dream to “help people be successful with sublimation,” which they’ve both fallen in love with over the several years they’ve been in the industry.
Sublimation University Format
To make this a possibility, the courses will take a self-paced format. The beginner’s course will feature 30-plus lessons, and Gross says the advanced is still under development. Each lesson uses complementary video and written education to ensure it appeals to all learning types.
For those that want to buckle down and focus on the course, Gross says they can finish it in roughly two weeks. “But again, it’s one of those kinds of things where many folks will continuously circle back to past lessons for clarification, for understanding,” he explains.
Asking what makes Sublimation University special, Gross says it comes down to two things: the simplicity in the breakdown of the content, so it’s digestible, and the “wealth of experience” the pair has in the field.
In an environment where there are so many resources online and suggestions on ways to do things, Sublimation University aims to help people avoid the “hard lessons of sublimation,” Gross adds.
Community Building
Outside of the beginner and advanced courses, there’s also a community people can join. Those who join the membership community will receive a discount on the beginner’s course. Rather than $399, members can access the platform for $199.
Membership benefits include live events to discuss the sublimation industry and the latest technologies, joint community projects, and comradery.
“It’s intended to really cause people to become current on the technology, the updates, the excitement, what’s working for folks in the sublimation world, what’s not, and so that’s really an extremely big differentiator between us and some of the other programs that are out there,” Gross explains.
Beyond the educational courses and membership community, Sublimation University also offers its graduating students the chance to teach and give back to the community. Once a student completes both the beginner and advanced courses, they’re eligible for instructor certification. The instructor can then help people with the Sublimation University curriculum, whether it’s via Zoom or in person.
It’s a way the pair can scale the education platform, says Gross, and help more people in their established, new, or yet-to-be-formed sublimation businesses.
For Kuchek and Gross, this venture has been years in the making. They’re very excited to see its impact and watch as people grow in their craft.
The platform is expected to launch on July 5. For those interested in learning more, visit www.sublimation.university.
