Wholesale apparel maker Delta Apparel has begun selling its assets to bidders following its bankruptcy filing in June. The filing included its various business arms, including retail brands Salt Life and Soffe, as well as full-service printer DTG2Go. On Aug. 27, Delta Apparel began taking bids on the brand’s assets, and those top bidders have been named.

Iconix International Inc. and Hilco Merchant Resources had the winning bid for Salt Life’s assets at $38.7 million. This beat out FCM’s $37 million offer, which stands as the backup bid. If finalized, Salt Life will join Iconix’s brand portfolio, which already includes Zoo York, Mossimo, Candies, Danskin, and Umbro, among others. At the bankruptcy auction, two Salt Life store leases in Huntington Beach and San Clemente, California, were sold for $150,000 to L&L Wings Inc., the owner and operator of Breeza Beachwear stores.

Sports merchandise leader Fanatics put in a winning bid of roughly $258,000 on over 1 million units of “Fanatics neck pre-labeled blanks” from DTG2Go. Before closing earlier this year, Fanatics partnered with the full-service direct-to-garment printer on its commerce needs.

Athleticwear brand Soffe also had assets purchased. Renfro LLC, a sock and legwear manufacturer, put in a winning bid of $15.3 million. NG Labs, which owns Boxercraft and other brands, is the backup bidder at $15.1 million.

A bankruptcy court judge must approve the final sales of assets. Federal Bankruptcy Court Judge Laurie Selber Silverstein will rule on the Sept. 5 hearing.
