In Camden, New Jersey, Vacord Screen Printing serves local and national clients with its expertise in discharge printing. Chief Operating Officer Adam Woods says discharge printing had a tough barrier of entry in its early days — harder to get supplies, recipes, and support — but today, the shop thrives with discharge printing as its primary offering.

For those unfamiliar with the process, discharge printing is known for its soft hand. Unlike traditional plastisol ink, discharge ink is made up of water-based ink and a special additive that removes (discharges) color from the fabric when cured. This screen-printing method offers super soft shirts, vibrant prints, and allows for printing light colors on dark apparel.

Woods talks about the shop’s journey, and how the industry has changed for discharge printers. Plus, tune in to hear his favorite part about working in screen printing.
