Special Survey: Effects of Tariffs on Apparel Decoration Industry
The constant barrage of tariff news in 2025 can feel overwhelming for apparel decorators. From the steady stream of updates on policies, to which countries are involved, to changing deadlines, keeping up with all of it might leave some shops in a frenzy. In response to the constant questions, PRINTING United Alliance — with the help of Apparelist — is conducting a special survey on the effects of tariffs on the apparel decoration industry.
A few weeks ago, Stephanie Buka, government affairs coordinator, PRINTING United Alliance, discussed the impact of tariffs on the printing industry in her latest article for PRINTING United Alliance. She also offered insight for apparel decorators specifically on how to navigate the tariff news.
Now, with the help of the Alliance’s chief economist Andy Paparozzi, the special survey on the effects of tariffs will help answer additional questions. Containing just six questions, the goal is for decorators to provide real feedback on the impacts the change is already having.
“We want to get the facts directly from community members,” says Paparozzi. “They know the reality on the ground. Their experiences matter most. We want to hear those experiences.”
The survey is currently open, with a close date of Friday, March 28. Results will be compiled, analyzed, and provided to those that participate.
Take the Survey
“The survey will uncover how the increases in tariffs are affecting the community,” Paparozzi adds. “What are the challenges? Equally important, what are the opportunities, because every market disruption creates opportunities. Once we know, we can provide guidance for addressing the challenges and capturing the opportunities.”
ASI Webinar Highlights Tariff Impact on Promo
Alliance partner ASI also recently conducted a webinar, in which Tim Andrews, president and CEO of ASI, and Chris Ruvo, executive editor of news and content strategy for ASI Media, dove deep into the head-spinning topic and what it means for the promotional products industry. Many apparel decorators also offer promotional products, creating additional areas of impact.
Listen to the Webinar
“Every morning, business people need to retool what they’re thinking about and what they’re communicating to their clients,” Andrews said during the webinar. “That makes for a difficult time.”
