Custom Ink announces it is shuttering its production facility in Flower Mound, Texas, a move that will cause 240 employees to lose their jobs, according to a report from Dallas News.

This follows a series of layoffs that has already taken place by the custom apparel and promotional products company. Earlier this year, Custom Ink also shut down its Charlottesville, Virginia, and Reno, Nevada, production facilities. The Virginia closure resulted in 338 workers let go. The operations were originally consolidated with those in the Texas production facility that is now closing. In an article shared by the Washington Business Journal, the total staff reduction will reach nearly 500 employees.

Custom Ink said it will close the Flower Mound division by March 29, 2024, but will start laying off workers as soon as Feb. 13, including production workers, managers, salespeople, and administrators, according to a filing with the Texas Workforce Commission shared by Dallas News.

“We expect the closing to be permanent in nature,” the company said in its Work Adjustment and Retraining Notification letter submitted to the state. “This closing will involve the cessation of all production operations at the site.”

The company said in a statement that employees will get four to 26 weeks of severance, a subsidy for health insurance, and professional job placement assistance.

“To improve performance and better align the business with its tech-oriented growth strategy, Custom Ink is planning to close its Dallas In-House Production facility by the end of the first quarter of 2024 and return to a production model utilizing a network of partners,” Custom Ink said in a statement. “This is a difficult process, and Custom Ink is committed to supporting Inkers to make successful transitions, including four to 26 weeks severance, a subsidy for health benefits, and professional job placement assistance.”
