In recent feel-good news, Grimco, a wholesale supplier for the wide-format printing, screen printing, and signage industries, teamed up with a St. Louis, Missouri, nonprofit to help students in the area.

Through an initiative called Back-to-School Bonanza book drive, Grimco collected over 560 single books, more than 1,000 books in box sets, 440-plus bras, and 250-plus belts for students — for a total of $16,000 worth of items. The items went to The Little Bit Foundation, a nonprofit committed to educational equity and removing barriers to learning.

Philanthropy Over the Years

Grimco’s involvement with The Little Bit Foundation stems from CEO Keith Pittillo and his wife’s active participation with the organization, according to Susanne McDonald, corporate philanthropy administrator for Grimco.

“Keith and his wife’s involvement prompted Grimco’s support for The Little Bit Foundation several years ago, contributing through initiatives such as supply drives for socks, underwear, school supplies, bras, belts, books, etc.,” McDonald says.

This fall, the pair focused on addressing the demand for high-cost items like bras, belts, and books. The focus for this Bonanza drive came from collaborative brainstorming within Grimco’s philanthropy team.

To make this drive possible, Little Bit created an Amazon Wish List with items that would be the most beneficial for students ahead of the school year. From Aug. 4-11, donations were collected, and this year’s drive included expanded participation from Grimco’s various locations, including Canada and the U.K.

“To foster a sense of friendly competition, the teams were divided into ladies vs. gents, aligning with Grimco’s competitive spirit,” McDonald explains. “This approach demonstrates Grimco’s commitment to community involvement and philanthropic endeavors.”

Community Impact

Through the company’s give-back initiatives and dedication from employees, Grimco hopes to have a positive impact not only within its St. Louis community but globally as well. It looks to foster lasting change, McDonald shares.

Grimco envisions its contributions and partnerships as just the initial step,” she says. “As Grimco continues to expand, the intention is to uphold its core values. The company’s leadership, known for striking a balance between financial performance and compassion, plays a pivotal role in shaping Grimco’s future.”

In addition to company-wide philanthropic efforts, Grimco also offers its employees volunteer time off (VTO), allowing them to give their time to causes they are passionate about while still being compensated.

Having been involved in many community-driven initiatives over the years, Grimco has its fair share of heartwarming moments to reflect on. One standout story, McDonald shares, is the company’s annual participation in Movember. Years ago, an employee’s father passed away from cancer. Since then, the company has rallied together to raise funds and bring awareness to men’s health.

Efforts like these create meaningful connections, promote positive change, and build community, McDonald says —  all values Grimco works hard to uphold.
