DIY Screen Print Kit from Grateful Dead Perfect Example of Building Apparel Partnerships
Grateful Dead fans now have a way to screen-print their own merch at home. Deadheads everywhere can purchase a DIY screen-printing kit courtesy of MARKET, Grateful Dead, and Tek from Individualist.
In a press release shared by Hypebeast, the kit is meant to be a collectible item. It consists of an 18×16” metal frame, a mini squeegee, water-based ink in four colors, and illustrations done by Ruben Perez. Perez has been a core member of the Grateful Dead community for a long time, designing official merchandise for the band alongside being a full-time designer at MARKET — a lifestyle clothing brand — reads the press release.
Illustrations included in the novelty kit include skeletons, stars, jesters, flowers, and more. The kit is available on the MARKET website as of April 7, where fans can get their hands on it for $200.
Utilizing Apparel Partnerships
Partnerships in the apparel industry, whether in the retail fashion world or on the wholesale manufacturing side, continue to blossom. Partnerships help build marketing and brand awareness and serve as tools to help with sourcing, supply chain challenges, and more.
What can apparel decorators take away from this?
- Explore local brands and companies that you can partner with. How can you create a stellar print for the local brewery?
- Sponsor fundraisers and partner with nonprofits. Jūpmode in Ohio is a great example on how partnerships can grow into a real business opportunity.
- Teach classes. If your business is able to and has the capacity, invite the public to come in and learn what you do. Partner with local real estate agents, the mayor’s office, etc., to sponsor the event.
