As the worlds of technology and apparel continue to collide, Nike and NASA announce they’ve come together to develop state-of-the-art athletic apparel. According to a press release, the goal of the collaboration is to enhance the performance of both athletes and astronauts by creating high-tech clothing.

Nike has a history of exploring how to advance clothing, primarily in the footwear market. The sports apparel and merchandise giant has also put waves out into the world of the Metaverse and digital fashion as well as in NFTs.

But this is a partnership of slightly different opportunities.

“Nike’s experience in designing and developing innovative products will be paired with NASA’s experience in materials science to create clothing that can do various things including regulation of body temperature, reducing stress on the body, and other performance-enhancing benefits,” reads the press release from Apparel Resources.

Specific details have yet to be announced; however, Nike President John Donahoe has released the following statement: “We are excited to cooperate with NASA to foster new super advanced attire that will take execution to a higher level. This collaboration represents a unique opportunity to combine our expertise with NASA to create something truly special.”
