Brooks Brings Cereal and Apparel Together for Nostalgic Running Gear Collection
Running just got a little more enjoyable. Or, perhaps more accurately, the gear just got a little more enjoyable.
Brooks Running, most commonly known for its extensive line of running shoes, is upping its style cred with a new line that truly brings its “Run Happy” motto to life.
On Sept. 1, the company launched the Bowl O’ Brooks line of cereal-themed apparel and accessories. According to the company, the line was designed to help customers run happy by reliving nostalgic childhood days of Fruit Loops and Trix for breakfast. According to an article shared by CNET, Brooks designer Jennifer Fuson said the inspiration for the Bowl O’ Brooks line came from a recent trip the Color and Specialty teams took to Miami.
“We continued to see nostalgic nods to Saturday mornings with store walls decorated with old cereal boxes, museum shops with artist-made tchotchkes reminiscent of cereal characters …,” said Fuson. “You name it, the reference was everywhere … After that, we had a gut instinct that this was something we shouldn’t ignore and what a fun pack this would be.”
The line includes everything from T-shirts and tanks to socks and hats. But being a running company, Brooks also released cereal designs for three of its most iconic shoes: the Adrenaline GTS 11, Glycerin 20, and Launch 9.
And the company didn’t stop there.
On Sept. 3, Brooks hosted a fun run in New York City to promote the new line of products. The event highlight was, of course, a 3.5-mile run. And while most fun runs these days offer a beer to finishers, all participants in the Bowl O’ Brooks run received a free bowl of cereal at the end and had the opportunity to test out Brooks’ latest designs. Brooks also teamed up with Zappos for a consumer event that took place after the run.
For those on the West Coast, Brooks hosted a similar event on Sept. 17 in Los Angeles.
Fans of Brooks, running, and cereal can shop the collection on the Brooks website.
