Lululemon Targets Collegiate Market with Exclusive Apparel Collections
Love them or hate them, Lululemon has become synonymous with trendy activewear that’s geared toward the gym and everyday life. Earlier this summer, the retail giant dropped a collection that signaled an even stronger need for “convertible” clothing than ever before. Now the popular activewear brand is making headlines again, this time by teaming up with Penn State and The University of Alabama for a line of licensed apparel for each school.
Lululemon // Penn State will be available starting at 8 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 19 at The Family Clothesline, a local Penn State Store in the heart of State College. It sounds like the Penn State clothing location anticipates quite the demand, too. According to Family Clothesline, only 30 to 40 customers at a time will be allowed inside from 8 to 10 a.m., after which the customer limit will be removed.
To keep the hype going, customers will be allowed to start lining up around 6 a.m. that day. Any remaining inventory will be available online starting at 6 p.m. on Aug. 21.
While it has been announced that men’s and women’s apparel will be part of the line, no other specifics have been released (Family Clothesline disclosed it is unable to give previews of the collection before the launch).
Lululemon has also teamed up this year with The University of Alabama. That particular apparel line, dubbed BAMA x Lululemon, dropped on Aug. 12. This collaboration is only available to purchase in-store at the University’s Corner Supe Store on Bryant Drive.
The collection includes men’s and women’s apparel with styles such as Lululemon’s hotty hot shorts, scuba hoodies, belt bags, crew necks, backpacks, and more.
The announcement isn’t the only apparel-related headline Penn State has found itself a part of recently. The school is currently in the midst of trademark case against an online retailer in which the laws surrounding sports merchandising could see upheaval.
